Over the weekend we had some guests over for a social gathering. In order to create a nice party atmosphere we set up YouTube via the T.V, so we could choose various classic songs to listen to as we socialised.
YouTube can be such a fun tool when used in this way, having the freedom to hear songs from any era. Lisa my sister in-law suddenly picked a song called Aquarius. It wasn't until the song started playing that I recognised it from the sixties. A classic uplifting gospel funky type number. Lisa doesn't have a spiritual or metaphysical background so her choosing the song was purely for the music.
What blew me away listening to that song, wasn't so much the music because I heard the song before, but the name of band that recorded it, "The Fifth Dimension". As many of you will know, "the Age of Aquarius" is the astrological period where Mankind is supposed to be entering a Golden Age. So the song title and lyrics definitely highlight this coming spiritual event.
However, what struck me was that the band was called "The Fifth Dimension". Many writings, chanellings or teachings regarding "The Great Shift" or the Ascension mostly talk about moving our consciousness to a whole new level of existence, moving our consciousness up from the 3rd, through the 4th and finally into 5th Dimension. Crikey, did the band know about the Ascension and the spiritual terminology used by us now back in 1969. Looking at the connection it's easy deduce that in fact they did have prior spiritual understanding of the Ascension so intentionally named themselves and their song after two key words in the process.
I did a quick search on Google to find out. What I discovered was that the group formed back in 1965, 4 years before recording Aquarius. It appears they were originally called "The Versatiles". Here's a quote taken from the following website
http://www.classicbands.com/Fifth.html
"Their future manager, Marc Gordon, would soon help change their lives. He was a director of West Coast Operations at Motown Records. Gordon was in the process of leaving Motown when he heard The Versatiles and offered to manage them. They recorded "You’re Good Enough For Me" and "Bye Bye Baby", both co-written by Marc Gordon on the Bronco label. It wasn’t until Gordon introduced the group to Johnny Rivers, who was starting Soul City Records, that something exciting started to happen.
Johnny Rivers instantly liked their sound and decided to produce them. He wanted them to change their outdated group name and look. Now called "The Fifth Dimension" and with their new "mod" outfits, they were ready."
So the new name wasn't the bands choice but given to them by their new record label. Fast forward 4 years and a wonderful case of synchronicity pops up. Here's further quote:
"In 1969, the musical "Hair" was on Broadway. It was interesting how the Fifth Dimension ended up recording "Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In". Florence said, "It was a real fluke. We were performing in New York City and Billy lost his wallet in a taxi. The man who returned it invited us to see a play he produced. The play of course was Hair. Well we heard Aquarius and we all just looked at each other and said ‘We’ve got to sing this song. It’s great. It was the quickest thing we ever recorded and it was one of our biggest hits."
Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In" remained in the #1 spot on Billboard's chart for 6 straight weeks and remained in the Top 40 for 16 weeks. Both the single and album "Age Of Aquarius" went Gold and received two Grammy Awards for Record Of The Year and Best Contemporary Vocal By A Group. They were also nominated for Album Of The Year. The song was also nominated for Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist. The song eventually sold over three million copies, making it the biggest selling single that year.
So just summarise. We have a wonderful song that appears to have together come via some wonderful synchronicities regarding the band's name change and their subsequent hit "Aquarius" recorded 4 years later, due to a chance invite to watch the stage show Hair, after one of their band members lost his wallet, only to be found later by the producer of Hair who went on to invite the band to watch his play, which in turn featured a version of the song. Was the song really intended for the times we're now living in, some 40 years later? Although it was recorded back in 1969 the Flower Power era that followed definitely marked a huge shift in people's consciousness, even if briefly. Was this time symbolic in showing us what we could achieve if we really worked towards peace from a heart centred way. Was this highlighting that the Light Workers were now here and more would follow. Maybe it was pivotal in someway to show that the potential existed to start ushering a new time of peace. Sometimes the Great-Spirit has a way of temporally dangling a huge carrot and stick in front of us to ensure we start working towards our goals.
Here are the lyrics, I have bolded the key lyrics that seem to have a pivotal meaning astrologically for this year, 2009.
When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars
(scroll down to read what I have found out about this.)
This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius
Age of Aquarius
Aquarius! Aquarius!
Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more falsehoods or derisions
Golden living dreams of visions
Mystic crystal revelation
And the mind's true liberation
Aquarius! Aquarius!
When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius
Age of Aquarius
Aquarius! Aquarius!
Let the sun shine, Let the sun shine in
The sun shine in
Let the sun shine, Let the sun shine in
The sun shine in
Let the sun shine, Let the sun shine in
The sun shine in
Let the sun shine, Let the sun shine in
The sun shine in
Let the sun shine, Let the sun shine in
The sun shine in
Let the sun shine, Let the sun shine in
The sun shine in
Let the sun shine, Let the sun shine in
The sun shine in
Let the sun shine, Let the sun shine in
The sun shine in
Let the sun shine, Let the sun shine in
The sun shine in
Let the sun shine, Let the sun shine in
The sun shine in
Let the sun shine, Let the sun shine in
The sun shine in
Syncronisity Update - 25th March 2009
Just came across a blog on the net completely unrelated to the above. I was following links regarding mystic Drunvalo Melchizedek when I came across the blog. After reading what I had intended to read, I then clicked on the blog's February archive to see if there was anything else worthy of reading.
To my amazement their was a
blog regarding "Aquarius". This is what the blogger had wrote (who was discussing her childhood memories around the time of the vietnam war:
Quote:
"I knew there were people called "hippies" who did things like march for peace. Peace sounded like a good idea to me, if the people who were shooting at my dad would consider the idea a good one too. There was also rock and roll on the radio and this song by a group named "Hair" [who originally performed it].
When the Moon is in the seventh house
and Jupiter aligns with Mars.
Then peace will guide the planets
and love will steer the stars
At dawn on 14th February 2009 the day dedicated to St Valentine, the patron saint of Love, the Moon in Libra enters the seventh house of relationships. And Jupiter and Mars are aligned in Aquarius in the twelfth house of spiritual transformation."
End quote:
So if true, have we just entered into that sign now as predicted by that song 40 years ago? I sure hope so. What do you think?
You can watch a wonderful uplifting video on YouTube of the song by clicking the link below:
